Solan Municipal Corporation (MC) residents have been inconvenienced due to non-operational online services such as paying various bills and requesting building plan approvals.
The online gateway for the online authorization of building cards has not been functional for almost two months. Residents are forced to opt for the previous system of submitting hard copies of various documents to the MC’s office, which was tedious and time-consuming.
Since the card clearance gateway is not operational, a request was made to the director of the urban development department to accept hard copies of the documents following which the MC started the manual file system after the granting of this authorization, informed the deputy mayor, Rajiv Kaura. .
The gateway managing online filing of garbage and water bills had also developed a glitch. This system was launched in April and a sum of Rs 8 lakh was spent on its establishment. A company based in Uttar Pradesh had been given the task of developing it by the Solan MC.
Deputy Mayor Rajiv Kaura lamented that the absence of a regular commissioner had individually affected the rectification of corrupted systems and residents were suffering. He said it was unfortunate that the government didn’t send a regular official here.
