Nearly half of hospitality professionals want more training and professional development opportunities, according to data from The State of Restaurant Work Management 2020. 7shifts, a team management platform for restaurants , heeded the call and launched 7Shifts Academy, an online learning platform designed to help restaurateurs learn skills to grow their careers, according to a company press release.
“By providing world-class training and education to restaurant professionals, we add to the value we bring to restaurants around the world and ultimately hope to provide the resources and training that restaurant professionals need, so that ‘they see hospitality as part of their long-term career path,” 7Shifts Founder and CEO Jordan Boesch said in the statement.
Four modules are available, each covering a variety of lessons through video walkthroughs, blog posts, case studies, podcast episodes, and downloadable tools. They understand:
- Scheduling, where participants learn how to create and manage a schedule for optimal restaurant staffing.
- Day-to-day restaurant management, which consists of video and audio lessons, blog posts and real-life case studies covering topics such as facilitating an efficient work environment and avoiding common pitfalls.
- Hiring and Training, which teaches participants how to hire the right people and train them effectively. Participants will learn how to create a staff training manual, how to effectively interview and evaluate team performance.
- Marketing, which includes lessons on creating a marketing plan and digital marketing best practices for restaurants.
As the industry evolves, the platform will add more lessons, according to the statement.
