Last year, the Fife Council changed the administrative process for those starting primary school by introducing a new online process for families.
It was agreed yesterday (Thursday) at a council policy and coordination committee meeting that the change in administrative procedure will remain in place for primary school enrollments, but from this year the same system will be used to enroll the seven students from primary to high school.
The system is purely a procedural change and there is no change to the schools’ admissions policy.
David Alexander, Chairman of the Committee and Co-Head of the Fife Council, said: âThe vast majority of P1 parents used the online registration form last year.
âIt makes sense for us to roll out the same quick and convenient solution for families considering a move to high school.
“But of course we will provide paper forms if anyone really needs them.”

David Ross, Co-Leader, added: âWe are always looking to improve the way we do things.
âThis is a natural step and our education team will also use previous feedback from parents and schools to refine this year’s process. “
Counselors learned that during the first week of the on-line registration system’s rollout last year, there had been “youth issues”, but these were dealt with and changed dramatically. quickly.
A report to the committee indicated that the comments were taken into account as a result of last year’s process.
He also said the change to an online form will reduce the time taken by office and management staff in schools to implement the process.
Shelagh McLean, Head of Education, told the committee: âOver 3,700 of our parents have applied for their places online, that’s the vast majority of our P1 registrations.
“The team has developed the process for high school and will be providing information to parents at the standard administration time, which is usually around the beginning of December.”
Parents and guardians need a mygov.scot account to use the enrollment and placement application system, but there is no need to take any action until more information is released in December.
