Nashik: The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has decided to develop an online system to pay development fees which are recouped before building plan proposals are approved.
NMC officials said development fees are currently paid offline. But, a new online development charge payment system will bring transparency and help city officials verify the relevant builder’s payment online with just one click.
The civic body derives its revenue from various taxes from the planning department such as development charges, building permit fees, development fees, hardship premiums and unauthorized construction fees such as the closure of a balcony, the regulation of plinth, etc.
In the last financial year, the NMC earned revenue of Rs 350 crore from various taxes from the planning department, including revenue of Rs 81 crore it received from development charges.
NMC officials said they are in the process of developing software for online payment of development fees.
Nilesh Chavan, management consultant and former president of the Nashik chapter of the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), said this was truly a positive development and suited both builders and managers alike. of the NMC.
The NMC is already understaffed and making development charge payments online will also relieve the civic body.
