The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) said it was experiencing technical issues with its online platforms following an upsurge in clients seeking to process clearance certificates for this year.

The tax collector said his employees in the Information Communication and Technology (ICT) department were working hard to try to resolve the issues.

In a statement released yesterday, Zimra said high user traffic and congestion was compounded by the fact that many certificates issued last year recently expired.

“We would like to sincerely apologize for the challenges that our valued customers have encountered with our electronic services system when applying for Tax Clearance Certificates for 2021.

“This has been compounded by congestion due to very high user traffic applying at the same time, following the expiration of the previously extended customs clearance submission deadline. The system is up and running and our ICT team is taking care of the issues. system congestion to improve system performance, ”the tax collector said.

To address technical challenges, the organization said the ICT team is adding capacity to the infrastructure, which will improve the process of logging to the system by taxpayers.

Additionally, the team directly engages taxpayers who have reported their issues and helps them access their tax clearance certificates.

They are working with the vendor (Microsoft) to improve the capacity of the system so that it is able to handle multiple requests at the same time.

“Currently, the majority of taxpayers can log in and submit their claims. However, due to non-compliance, the system does not issue them the tax clearance certificates.

“Customers are advised to make sure they are compliant in all respects before submitting their requests, i.e. interface for taxing, submitting returns and paying taxes,” said Zimra.

In the meantime, compliant taxpayers who fail to obtain their ITF263 through the system are advised to contact their assigned liaison officers by email so that they are manually assisted in uploading their ITF263 (Tax Clearances).
