Cedar Park Police Department launches new online system for reporting non-violent crimes

The Cedar Park Police Department announced the launch of a new online reporting system on July 5. The new system was designed to make filing police reports easier and more efficient for the public, and it also reduces the time required to create reports. and filed for non-violent crimes, according to the July 5 press release.

“We are excited to offer this tool to the community to help streamline the process so citizens can once again enjoy the opportunity to live, work and play in Cedar Park,” the department said in the statement.

The new system is designed for the community to report multiple types of crimes, including fraud, theft, vandalism and other property crimes. Residents can file a return online by visiting www.cedarparktexas.gov/policeby selecting “Contact Us” and clicking on “File a Police Report”.

The police department can only accept online reports for listed offenses, which users can view through the online reporting tool. Staff stress the importance of reading each description carefully and including all required documentation, such as photos, receipts, or the department’s financial crimes fraud record, all of which may be necessary for the investigation.

Once the police report is accurately created and meets the criteria, a case number is assigned. The report will then go through the police department’s filing system before being assigned to the appropriate unit for investigation, according to the statement.

The Cedar Park Police Department encourages the use of the online reporting system, but the community is still able to call the department’s non-emergency number to request to file a report in person with an officer. Residents are also always asked to file a police report at the front desk of the police department headquarters.
