The Iowa Attorney General’s Office offers free online training on sexual assault topics for medical providers in Iowa. The three-hour training is led by the Victims of Crime Division and covers a range of topics, including the role of sexual assault response teams and nurse examiners in sexual assault, the sexual assault evidence kit tracking system, programs within the Victims of Crime Division, and hospital policies and procedures. The course is also available to non-medical providers, including lawyers, social workers, law enforcement, and members of the public. The project is the first training initiative offered by the division’s new sexual assault forensic response effort, which is led by Sara Hulen, the state’s first sexual assault forensic response coordinator. The course will be available for three years and is listed on the University of Iowa Continuing Medical Education website.
